Dr. Barrett began his equine professional career by attending Farrier School in 1998 and graduated from Colorado State University‘s veterinary program in 2005.  Several years working on the HITS hunter/ jumper show circuit provided valuable sports medicine experience.  Dr. Barrett started his own practice in 2010 and for a decade focused solely on equine podiatry before returning to sports medicine. Although he is no longer doing the farrier work, that experience is invaluable for understanding biomechanics and pathology.  Today his primary interests are imaging to aid in achieving a diagnosis, regenerative medicine, pre-purchase exams, and podiatry consults.  He believes a key component to managing equine athletes is not waiting until they are visibly lame to be examined. When not working he spends time with Tracey, the love of his life he met in a barn in Colorado, their 2 dogs, 2 horses, and a cat.
