Dr. Barrett began his equine professional career by attending Farrier School in 1998 and graduated from Colorado State University‘s veterinary program in 2005.  Several years working on the HITS hunter/ jumper show circuit provided valuable sports medicine experience.  Dr. Barrett started his own practice in 2010 and for a decade focused solely on equine podiatry before returning to sports medicine. Although he is no longer doing the farrier work, that experience is invaluable for understanding biomechanics and pathology.  Today his primary interests are imaging to aid in achieving a diagnosis, regenerative medicine, pre-purchase exams, and podiatry consults.  He believes a key component to managing equine athletes is not waiting until they are visibly lame to be examined. When not working he spends time with Tracey, the love of his life he met in a barn in Colorado, their 2 dogs, 2 horses, and a cat.

Dr. Shayna Warner is a Colorado native and proud CSU alumna who brings over a decade of experience in equine and emergency medicine. Dr.Warner and her husband, Seth Vahsholtz operate SVS Veterinary Services with a focus on equine dentistry, lameness, and neuromuscular performance. She collaborates closely with Dr. Barrett to expand advanced lameness and sports medicine services throughout Southern Colorado and beyond. She is a competitive equestrian in both English and Western riding disciplines. When not working in the veterinary field, she can be found either in the show ring or exploring the mountains on horseback.
