Dr. Barrett offers podiatry exams. He has extensive experience in equine hoof pathology, diagnosis, treatment, and shoeing protocols. While he no longer provides farrier services, he can work with your farrier to develop effective treatment strategies. His innovative approach and outside-the-box thinking has contributed to his success as a podiatrist. Conditions treated include coffin joint bursitis, navicular bursa bursitis, deep digital flexor tendon injuries, collateral and suspensory ligament injuries, navicular disease, foot infections, hoof capsule distortion, thin soles, and laminitis.
Fetlock support shoe: Support shoe designed to prevent settling of the fetlock due to a severe laceration of the deep digital flexor tendon and superficial digital flexor tendon
Keratoma stabilization plate and Keratoma Heel plate: Plate designed to stabilize the hoof capsule after keratoma removal surgery. The plate is applied immediately after surgery. The foot is also supported with an open-toed heel plate shoe, equithane pour, and hospital plate prior to surgery.
Venogram Infection: This venogram shows disruption of the blood supply circled in red. This is an abscess that we were unable to find looking at the foot or on regular radiographs. We were able to drain the abscess through the wall and resolve the problem.
