REGIONAL LIMB PERFUSION
Regional limb perfusions are therapies designed to deliver higher concentrations of antibiotics to the lower limb while maintaining lower systemic concentrations for infection treatment. Conditions such as infections of the coffin bone, tendon sheaths, septic joints, and cellulitis are commonly addressed using this method. A tourniquet is applied above the infected area, the antibiotic is injected into a vein, and allowed to penetrate the tissue for 25-30 minutes. This technique can also be used to administer regenerative products to structures within the foot that are otherwise inaccessible.
